| What
is a House Church
It is the observation of many church leaders around the world
that we are in the midst of a new Reformation. This current movement will surpass
the first Reformation of the 16th century (which was the birth of the Protestant
Church) in both impact and scope.
This present generation is starving for genuine spiritual experiences and do
not trust the traditional church model or traditional religious expression. The
evidence of that hunger is scene clearly in the number of movies, television programs
and books whose main characters display superhuman knowledge, talents and abilities.
The Spiderman and Lord of the Ring movie franchises, the successful television
shows Hero’s and Medium, the gargantuan success of the Harry Potters books
are all testimonies of our intense desire to connect with a force greater than
ourselves.
We believe the role of the church is to be the representation of Christ on
earth (1 Cor. 12:27; John 17:23, Acts 1:8) and if Jesus is known for anything
He is known for the miracles he performed, not the least of which was raising
Himself from the dead. That being true the role of the Church is to demonstrate
God’s love to the world through supernatural miracles of healing, deliverance
and provision. After all, Jesus said that whoever believed in Him would do the
same works that He did and even greater works than those we would do (John 14:12).
It is the job of the church to meet the spiritual needs of a starving world and
that can only be done through the supernatural expression of God’s love.
So, what is a House Church?
A House Church
is the cutting edge of a new reformation. It is a re-capturing of the values and
truths held by the Church of Jesus Christ in its first one hundred years of existence,
when every church met in a home environment. A House Church is a group of people
who are passionate about knowing Jesus and His supernatural ability to love people
through meeting their felt needs. A House Church is a group of believers who trust
each other, lean on each other, and depend on one another in a community of respect
and genuine love.
In a house church nothing can be described as typical, but what you will generally
find is passionate praise and worship, interactive dialogue exploring the truths
of genuine Christian living, a fuller expression of the Holy Spirit, powerful
prayer, a hearty meal and warm fellowship. I have been in the church for more
than 30 years and I have found the House Church to be the most exciting and real
expression of religious faith and life that I have ever encountered. I invite
you to taste and see for yourself – your hunger will be satisfied!
